Vitality and Health Coach Training for People 50+
My name is Karin, I’m 49 years old, and at the end of 2015, I began my training to become a Certified Vitality and Health Coach, Certified Spinal Trainer, Certified Relaxation Coach, and Certified Nutrition Coach . I’m also the proud mother of two adult children and grandmother of three grandchildren.
Sports have been a part of my life ever since kindergarten. I attended the Kinderfreunde Dance Kindergarten & After-School Care Center, and I’ve been active regularly ever since. I do sports “only” as a leisure activity—such as cycling, swimming, dancing, etc. I’ve also been going to a gym for several years, but health issues kept getting in the way, so I often had to take long breaks and then start over from scratch—losing motivation, picking myself up again, and so on ;-)
Professionally, I worked in the restaurant industry for over 30 years and, unfortunately, really put my body through the wringer. 12–16-hour shifts without a break, then going out, a maximum of 4–5 hours of sleep, plus smoking, alcohol, and daily stress. I quit smoking 14 years ago, and 2.5 years ago I also changed jobs. Now I work at ZIB Training in Vienna as a specialist trainer for tourism and the hospitality industry. While I don’t get much physical activity at work, I can now use my newfound free time to really do something good for my body. That’s how I came up with the idea of pursuing training in this field. Actually, I just wanted to know how to work out properly. So, without any prior information, I did some research online and came across the Flexyfit Sports Academy website. It was very appealing and detailed, so I simply made an appointment for an informational consultation. What was originally intended just for me—namely, how to move my body “properly,” what to eat, when, and how, in order to eat healthily without immediately losing motivation and harming myself—ended up becoming a very comprehensive training program focused on relaxation training, spinal training, and corporate fitness.
„Solange ich kann, möchte ich mich bewegen und andere motiveren mitzumachen.“
Integrating Training into My Career
My employer recently increased my hours from 35 to 38 per week (with a corresponding pay raise), and I work 3 hours a week as a corporate fitness trainer in our in-house health project, “ZIB Dich Xund.” I delight my coworkers with back exercises, go Nordic walking with them on Hauptallee, and occasionally treat them to a PMR session in a relaxed atmosphere. They enjoy working out with me because I’m honest and open, and I never tell anyone I can perform miracles. They enjoy what I do!
